Live lookup

Look up any aircraft

Find a specific aircraft in the live US feed by its ICAO hex code (like a1b2c3), its callsign (like SWA1234) or its registration (like N12345).

What you can search for

  • ICAO hex address. The permanent 24-bit address built into the aircraft’s transponder, written as six hexadecimal characters. It is the most reliable identifier, because it doesn’t change from flight to flight. US-registered aircraft have addresses from a00001 to adf7c7.
  • Callsign. The flight identifier the crew enters, usually an airline’s three-letter ICAO code plus a flight number (AAL100). Private aircraft often use their registration. Searching a prefix such as SWA lists every matching flight in the air.
  • Registration. The tail number painted on the aircraft, such as N12345 in the US or C-FABC in Canada.

Lookups search the most recent live snapshot, so an aircraft parked with its transponder off, or outside our US coverage box, won’t be found. airplanes.live keeps history and covers the whole world, and every result links there.
