Embraer E190 E190

The Embraer E190 is a stretched E-Jet seating about 96 to 114 passengers, with a larger wing and more powerful engines than the E170 and E175. It bridges the gap between regional jets and mainline narrowbodies. Too large for most US regional scope rules, it is usually flown by mainline airlines.

What it does in US skies

JetBlue has been the largest US E190 operator but is retiring them in favor of the A220-300. Breeze has also flown the E190 and E195, and many business and charter operators use the type.

Main US operators: JetBlue, Breeze Airways, American Airlines (former).

    How to recognize a E190

    • Long E-Jet body with underwing engines and a rounded nose.
    • Larger wing and taller tail than the E175.
    • No winglets on the E190 (the E2 version has none either but has bigger engines).
    • Four-abreast cabin with long rows of windows.

How it looks on a flight tracker

Cruises at FL330 to FL410 at 410 to 490 kt. Look for JBU and MXY callsigns, plus charter operators.

    History

The E190 entered service with JetBlue in 2005, as JetBlue was the launch customer. The re-engined E190-E2 followed in 2018.
